Quantum-12, Punch Press, &
Die
This Die Jam Correction Test
simulates what typically happens in a stamping press when a die jam occurs.
The Quantum-12 feed pre-punched material through a small punch press.
The material is fed until it is jammed against a stop. The Quantum's
digital oscilloscope senses an increase in the amount of torque necessary
to push the material. Once detected, the feed unit immediately reverses
the feed rolls pulling the strip back to the previous progression while
shutting off the press. This allows the punch to enter the same hole avoiding
a costly die crash due to a mis-feed. This patented technology eliminates
the need to stop the press before the punches enter the material.
The Quantum can also accept inputs from an in-die sensor or buckle detector
to trigger Die Jam Correction and pull the material back to the previous
progression.
